UKIP leader and Leave campaigner with comments published earlier today 17 May 2016
- "In a 52-48 referendum this would be unfinished business by a long way. If the Remain campaign win two-thirds to one-third that ends it."
Asked about his comments made in an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper Farage has said:
"I think we are going to win."
But he added:
"If we were to lose narrowly, there'd be a large section, particularly in the Conservative Party, who'd feel the prime minister is not playing fair, that the Remain side is using way more money than the Leave side and there would be a resentment that would build up if that was to be the result."
PM Cameron has replied saying the vote is:
" a once in a generation, once in a lifetime" decision. The UK has referendums not Neverendums".
Top marks to his army of speech writers for that extra pithy one.
Farage must have been miffed not to have been included in the team of principals to lead the Leave campaign and has been somewhat subdued so far but I have a feeling he'll be making a few more headlines in the countdown to 23 June.
