The US is said to be considering the sanctions over China's use of internment camps for the detention of hundreds of thousands of ethnic Uighurs and other minority Muslims
- Would include sanctions and economic penalties on Chinese officials and companies
- Also restrictions on American sales of surveillance technology used by China to monitor Uighurs throughout northwest China

This would probably fit in with the whole vibe of the thing going on in US / China relations right now. Human rights violations in China are not new, renewed US action on them would be.
