The Financial Times asks if RBA governor Glenn Stevens is “all mouth and no trousers?”
- “All mouth and no trousers” (Amant) is a British accusation directed at those who fail to back up big talk with appropriate action
- The Reserve Bank of Australia has been trying to jawbone the Aussie dollar lower, with governor Stevens at it again on Wednesday, saying he expected the Aussie to weaken as the country’s terms of trade deteriorated
- The problem is that the RBA also warned about overly speculative conditions in the housing market (same link), which may ignite rate-hike speculation
Very harsh, but funny.
