November 2016 UK claimant count 2.4k vs 5.5k exp

Details from the November 2016 UK labour market data report 14 December 2016

  • Prior 9.8k

  • Oct ILO unemployment rate 4.8% vs 4.8% exp. Prior 4.8%
  • Average weekly earnings 2.5% vs 2.3% exp 3m y/y. Prior 2.3%. Revised to 2.4%
  • Ex-bonus 2.6% vs 2.5% exp 3m y/y. Prior 2.4%

A half decent report with wages up and last month revised higher too.

The only downside was the 3m/3m employment change which saw a loss of 6k vs 50k exp & 49k prior. I'll check but that's the first loss for quite some time. Yes, June 2015 was the last time we saw a negative number. Vacancies dropped to 748k vs 755k prior

On the wages front, private sector wages grew by 2.8% vs 2.6% prior, the public sector matched last month's 1.4%.

The pound has turned around the pre-release drop to 1.2648 and trades at 1.2661.
