An earthquake at magnitude 5.3 (preliminary) in Hokkaido.
- it has hit near the same area as last month's bigger quake
- depth reported at 12.1 km
- USGS reporting the magnitude at 5.4
NHK (Japan) says the intensity of the quake is 'weak' on the Japan scale of 1 to 7
Hokkaido is Japan's northernmost large island. In September the island was hit an M6.7 quake.
Our friends in Japan will scoff and shrug off an M5.3 earthquake. They are much hardier than me :-D
