The Economic Information Daily reports that China's Ministry of commerce is studying measures to further lower tariffs on some imports of food, pharmaceuticals and medical instruments.
The report does not give details on a cut.
The US and China had a two day meeting last week that ended without much progress.
The Trump administration demanded a $200 billion cut in the Chinese trade surplus with the U.S., sharply lower tariffs and advanced technology subsidies. This was according to a Reuters report after the meetings.
