Italy's new agriculture minister said on Thursday that he would not ratify the European Union's free trade agreement with Canada
Agriculture Minister Gian Marco Centinaio:
- "We will not ratify the free-trade treaty with Canada"
- "Doubts about this deal are common among many of my European colleagues"
Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland downplayed:
- "I'm confident we will have full ratification in the end" she told reporters
