There is some chatter doing the rounds that Australian banks may be considering cutting home loan lending rates:
Major lenders have had discussions at the boardroom level about self-initiated rate cuts. Westpac is even considering slashing its rate by up to six basis points as early as February.
6 basis points? Break out the champagne…
Talk is that this reduces the pressure on the RBA to ease further.
