Rising household debt is a pretty constant source of angst - the Reserve Bank of Australia is concerned on it for its negative impact on household consumption (the argument going that debt servicing costs take spending away from consumption, which weighs on economic growth ... and the next step in the argument is how this impacts on RBA decisions to hike rates - should they feel the need to do this, i.e. not yet at least) .
