It might have been a bit of a relatively quiet start to the week for the AUD, but there should be some more action as the week progresses.
Tuesday:
- The RBA’s Guy Debelle speaks tomorrow at 11.15 am Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) (0015GMT), followed by a panel discussion, at the Australasian Finance and Banking Conference in Sydney
- Then, at 0030GMT, the RBA minutes for the December monetary policy meeting will be released
- Also on Tuesday the Mid-year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) at 0130GMT. Australian Treasurer Hockey is expected to announce a budget deficit of $47 bn (up from a $30 billion projection three month’s ago). The overall debt position is expected my many to be announced at more than $500 billion.
Wednesday
- On Wednesday at 0930 local time (2230GMT) RBA Governor Glenn Stevens speaks in the Australian parliament before the House of Representatives’ Standing Committee on Economics.
