Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Glenn Stevens retires in September
With an election coming up in Australia the race is on to appoint a successor to GS. Treasurer Scott Morrison will want to name the name ahead of the election coming up in Australia, if he doesn't he risks leaving the pick to a potential new government.
Reuters have a run down on the names in contention:
- The main contender is current RBA Deputy Governor Philip Lowe
Also mentioned are
- David Gruen, a former RBA staffer and currently deputy secretary on economic matters at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet
- Martin Parkinson (also at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet), Secretary to the Treasury from March 2011 to December 2014
- The current Treasury Secretary, John Fraser
- The dark horse is a pick from offshore, as the Bank of England got with Mark Carney
Lets hear from ForexLive .... Donald Trump, anyone?
