Ever since New Zealand PM Key announced the election data for September there has been the stirring of electioneering. The opposition Labour Party have released their policy on the RBNZ, saying:
- Would maintain RBNZ independence
- Would broaden the RBNZ mandate to include the external balance
- Would not jeopardise RBNZ’s inflation control function
I haven’t checked the polls lately so not sure how relevant this all is. The NZD sure doesn’t think so, barely changed around 0.8530 and change.
