New Zealand bank ASB now forecasting an August RBNZ cash rate hike

Last week ASB shifted their projection to a November cash rate, the first of the big 4 New Zealand banks to do so.

Following today's more hawkish Reserve Bank of New Zealand ASB have now shifted their forecast even close, to August (RBNZ meeting is August 18)

  • New Zealand - ASB raises mortgage rates (comes prior to the RBNZ policy announcement today)

From Westpac meanwhile:

  • still forecasting November rate hike
  • say the chance of an August hike have risen
