Here's a quick heads up preview for whats coming from the Bank of Japan, Reserve Bank of Australia and Federal Reserve this week.
On Tuesday (7 April 2015) the RBA meet, with the announcement due at 0430GMT. I'll have a preview of the meeting ahead of it, but, in brief:
- The market is pricing around a 75% probability of a 25 basis point cut (I'll update that % on Tuesday, but it was 77 when I last checked it)
- On the other hand, only 7 of 27 economists surveyed by Bloomberg expect a cut (again, I'll update this on Tuesday)
- The arguments for a cut are well-known, and the overwhelming consensus is a cut in April or May ... i.e. its coming soon regardless of the decision on Tuesday
- Its going to be another finely-balanced decision
Greg's already out of the blocks with his preview here: Forex technical analysis: EURAUD risk high as RBA decision awaited
On Wednesday (8 April 2015) we get the announcement from the BOJ meeting. There is no scheduled time for the announcement, the Bank of Japan make their announcement when they are ready to make their announcement, thank-you very much, we we should expect it sometime in the 0230-0330 time window, but it might come outside that. the more debate and discussion there is, the later the announcement will be.
Again, I'll have a preview as we approach Wednesday but, in brief, while there are still many expecting further action from the BOJ, there is no change expected to be announced at this meeting. BOJ Governor Kuroda will follow the announcement with a press conference (this does have a scheduled time, 0630GMT)
From the Federal Reserve this week, the big event is the release of the March 17/18 meeting minutes, but there are plenty of Fed speakers coming up .... I did a schedule of what to watch from the Fed here: Coming up from the Federal Reserve this week ...
