Data due from Australia for 10 February 2014 – 14 February 2014 (and RBA speakers)

It’s a a quiet beginning to the FX week, so a quick look ahead to what is due from Australia this week. There is quite a bit, as it happens:

Tuesday (11 February 2014) – NAB business confidence (prior here), housing finance (from the Australian Bureau of Statistics each month) & house price index (Australian House Price Index, from the Australian Bureau of Statistics each quarter) data

Wednesday (12 February 2014) brings the Westpac/Melbourne Institute Consumer Sentiment Index (prior is here, which was the lowest level since July 2013)

Thursday (13 February 2014) is the big one for the week, employment data (prior is here). Also, the Melbourne Institute Inflation Expectations measure. Thursday also brings some RBA murmurings … Guy Debelle, Assistant Governor (Financial Markets), will be a panel discussant at the CIFR Financial Market Developments Symposium in Sydney .

The RBA chatter ramps up on Friday (14 February 2014), with a speech by Christopher Kent, Assistant Governor (Economic), to the Commitee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) Economic and Political Overview 2014, also in Sydney. Both Debelle’s and Kent’s remarks will be scrutinised for comments on the economy and monetary policy.

(And, as a special bonus for reading down this far … Tuesday (18 February 2014) brings the minutes of February 2014 Monetary Policy Meeting of the Reserve Bank Board)

(What the heck … here’s special bonus #2, for getting even further down the page. Wednesday (12 February 2014) brings Chinese trade data, Friday (14 February) is the Chinese CPI & PPI.)
