Bank of England economist said house prices will continue climb
Bank of England economist Andrew Haldane spoke with The Sunday Times and touched on house prices.
"As long as we continue not to build anything like as many houses in this country as we need to ... we will see what we've had for the better part of a generation, which is house prices relentlessly heading north."
UK politicians are under increasing pressure to increase housing supply but also don't want to disrupt a potential housing bubble.
Overall, Haldane is facing criticism after the interview as he claimed property was a better bet than pensions. The press noted that he's in line for a £80,000 pension when he retires.
His point (which was lost) was that pension investing is filled with pitfalls, complexities and rip offs for the average person. He called for a revamp of the system and guidelines.
