S&P, NASDAQ, and Dow reach new session highs
The US stocks have moved to new session highs as the Powell press conference continues. He says that monetary policy is in a good place and that current sent the policy likely to remain appropriate. He also said that significant inflation rise needed before any rate hike.
For the major indices, the S&P index, NASDAQ index, and Dow all reach new session highs
- S&P index is currently up 5 points or 0.17% at 3042. The high reached 3043.31
- The NASDAQ index is up 16 points or 0.20% at 8293. The high price reached 8295.215
- The Dow is currently up 71 points or 0.26% at 27142. The swing high extended up to 27158 in the last run higher.
The market is currently reacting to the comments from Fed's Powell but after the close the earnings from Facebook and Apple will dominate the stock market activity. Both are benchmarks for the overall market. They also are some of the last "big names" to release.
Both are trading lower on the day despite the gains in the major indices:
- Apple is trading at $242.70, down $0.59 or -0.24% on the day
- Facebook is trading at $187.59. That is down $1.72 or -0.91%
