Nasdaq the big gainer
The US stocks are mixed in early trading, but the market is giving up some of the overnight froth on the back of Amazon, Microsoft and Intel beats.
- The S&P is up 8.0 points or 0.30% at 2674.90. The high reached 2677
- The NASDAQ is up 48 points or 0.67% at 7166. The high reached 7197
- The Dow is up 20 points or 0.08% at 24341. The high reached 24359.
The big three that reported better earnings are up nicely but off overnight highs:
- Amazon is up $94 or 6.1% at $1612
- Microsoft is up $2.05 or 2.18% at $96.31
- Intel is up $1.52 or 2.87% at $54.57
The S&P broad market index held the 200 day MA earlier in the week, and is back up looking towarrd the 50 day MA at 2688. The 100 day MA is at 2704. Getting and staying above that level is key if the broad market is to move higher.
