Nasdaq leads the way
The major US indices jumped to new session highs at the close and are ending with solid gains to start the week. Alphabet reports earnings after the close.
The numbers are showing:
- S&P index, up 18.34 points or 0.68% at 2724.87. The index closed above its 100 day MA at 2709.24
- Nasdaq, up 83.667 or 1.15% at 7347.53. It too closed above its 100 day MA at 7275.
- Dow up 175.48, up 0.70% at 25239.32 and just off the high for the day at 23239.91.
Alphabet is reporting earnings of $12.77 vs $10.82. Revenues also are a beat at $39.28 vs $38..9B, but the stock is down in after-hours trading ($1102 vs $1141 closing level)
