The major European stock indices are ending the day with gains today with all moving higher. Having said that the major indices are still scraping near the lows for the year.
The provisional closes are showing:
- German DAX, +0.4%
- France's CAC, +0.65%
- UK's FTSE, +1.23%
- Spain's Ibex, +1.06%
- Italy's FTSE MIB, +1.59%
- Portugal PSI20 up 0.88%
In the benchmark 10 year note sector, the Italian yields fell sharply on the back of the resolution of their budget issues.

In other markets as the London/European session comes to a close:
- Spot gold is up $5.66 or 0.45% at $1255
- WTI crude oil futures are recovering after yesterday's sharp fall. The contract is up $1.30 or 2.81% $47.54. The high price reached $48 - still a couple dollars below the $50 natural resistance level
- Bitcoin is off the high at $3928, but is still trading higher by $236 at $3770. The low reached $3522
In the US stock market, the major indices are higher but off the highest levels:
- S&P index +16.2 points or 0.64% at 2562.5. The high reached 2572.12.
- Nasdaq is up 35.89 points or 0.51% 6818.7. The high reached 6860.62.
- Dow is up hundred 72 points or 0.73% at 23850. The high reached 23919.93
In the forex market, the EURUSD remains the strongest. The AUD is now the weakest currency.
