General Motors and Hyundai are expanding their partnership with plans to jointly develop five new vehicles targeting the Americas.
The Wall Street Journal (gated) has the report. In brief:
- Four of the models—including a compact SUV, a car, a pickup, and a mid-size pickup—will be aimed at South and Central American markets, with launches expected in 2028.
- The fifth vehicle, an electric van designed for North America, will be led by Hyundai and manufactured in the U.S. as early as 2028.
- GM will take the lead on the mid-size pickup, while Hyundai will spearhead development of the compact car and electric van. The two automakers expect to sell over 800,000 units annually once production ramps up.
