  • The coast isn't clear yet though
Stocks Europe Frankfurt
  • Eurostoxx +0.5%
  • Germany DAX +0.4%
  • France CAC 40 +0.6%
  • UK FTSE +0.1%
  • Spain IBEX -0.1%
  • Italy FTSE MIB +0.4%

French finance minister, Éric Lombard, tried to calm the nerves by urging a compromise on the budget. That especially if Bayrou is toppled when we get to the confidence vote on 8 September. But looking at the bond market, the rout is still keeping up for now. 30-year yields in France is now hitting 4.50% and 30-year yields in the US are at 4.99%. The latter is going to be one to watch if we do see a material break above the 5% threshold. The calm we're seeing now might not last if investors start to run for cover again amid another upshot in yields.
