The major US stock indices closed lower on the day in relatively quiet trading. The indices did give up earlier gains with the NASDAQ trading up nearly 100 points at session highs. That took the price to a new intraday all-time high of 21549.73. The index is closing down -64.62 points.
The S&P reached a high of 6407.25 short of its all-time high price of 6427.02 reached last Thursday. The S&P index closed down -16 points.
