Major European indices close lower.

  • Modest declines for European stocks as flows move into US equities today

The major European indices are closing the day mostly lower. The best performer was the German DAX which closed unchanged. France's CAC fell -1.36% after its prime minister resigned and continued trouble looms from a debt standpoint in the country.

As London/European traders head for the exits, US indices are mixed with the Dow industrial average lower but the broader S&P and NASDAQ indices are higher. The gains are led by the NASDAQ index help by shares of AMD which have surged 28.65% after announcing a partnership with open AI.

Nvidia shares are marginally lower but off their low levels (-0.48%).

Microsoft shares are up 1.40%. Alphabet is up 1.01%. Palantir shares are up 3.56% and rebounding nicely after concerns about a security bug last week were quickly forgotten (and repaired). Tesla shares are surging by 3.81% as they teased a new model.

In the US debt market, yields remain higher:

  • 2-year yield 3.592%, +2.0 basis points
  • 5 year yield 3.739%, +3.1 basis points
  • 10 year yield 4.155%, +2.7 basis points
  • 30 year yield 4.751%, +3 point basis points

Crude oil is higher after OPEC+ announced a production increase that was less than some estimates. The current price is trading up $0.93 and $61.84.

Gold is up $65.98 or 1.71% at $3951.50. The high price reached $3970.06 just $30 short of the magical 4K level

Silver is up $0.40 or 0.94% at $48.37. Its all-time high prices at $49.83. The high price today reached $48.76.

Bitcoin is trading just shy of 4125,000 at $124,979. The high price today reached $125,469.
