China’s Golden Week holiday in 2025 will shut mainland financial markets for eight days from October 1 to October 8, as the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival breaks overlap.

  • The Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges, along with most government offices and businesses, will close during this period, with limited economic activity expected.

In Hong Kong, the stock market will be closed on October 1 for National Day and again on October 7 for the day following the Mid-Autumn Festival.

  • The Hong Kong Exchange will otherwise remain open during Golden Week.

Golden Week traditionally slows trading volumes across Asia as Chinese investors step back from markets, with ripple effects often felt in global commodity and currency trading.
