European indices rebound. Major indices bounce back after sharp declines last week

  • After the largest declines since April on Friday, the major European indices are bouncing back today

On Friday, after the major indices had their worst day since April, we are seeing a partial/full bounce back in shares today.

A snapshot of the closing levels shows:

  • German DAX, +1.41%. On Friday, the index fell -2.66%
  • France's CAC, +1.14%. On Friday, the index fell -2.91%.
  • UK's FTSE 100 +0.66%. On Friday, the index fell -0.70%.
  • Spain's Ibex +1.84%. On Friday the index fell -1.88%
  • Italy's FTSE MIB +1.89%. On Friday the index fell -2.55%

As London/European traders look for the exits, US indices are also rebounding.

  • Dow industrial average +486.55 points or 1.12% at 44075. On Friday, the index fell -1.23%
  • S&P index up or +1.32% at 6320.14. On Friday, the index fell -1.60%
  • NASDAQ index up 359 points or 1.74% at 21010.76. On Friday the NASDAQ fell -2.34%
