European indices close lower on the day. US stocks little changed.

  • Declines across the board as investors shift out of Europe

The major European indices all fell by -0.50% or more in trading here today. The biggest decliner was France's CAC which fell by -1.7% and Italy's FTSE MIB which declined by -1.32%.

A snapshot of the closing levels are showing:

  • German DAX, -0.50%
  • France's CAC -1.70%
  • UK's FTSE 100 -0.60%
  • Spain's Ibex -0.96%
  • Italy's FTSE MIB -1.32%.

As London/European traders look to exit for the day, US indices are mixed/little changed.

  • Dow industrial average down -16 points or -0.03% at 45263
  • S&P index is up 4.42 points or 0.07% at 6443.06.
  • NASDAQ index is up 39.83 points or 0.18% at 21489.

Nvidia will announce earnings after the close tomorrow. Its shares are trading up $1.76 or 0.90% at $181.49. The high closing level for shares was at $183.16 back on August 12.

Other chip companies are very well today:

  • Broadcom is trading up $3.01 or 1.02%
  • AMD is trading up $2.07 or 1.29%
  • ASML holdings are trading up $4.80 or 0.64%
  • TSMC is trading up $2.34 or 0.99%
  • Qualcomm is trading up $3.40 or 2.17%

Apple announced a special Apple event on September 9. It was reported earlier that Apple's 17 announcement was likely imminent. This might be it. Shares of Apple are up $0.13 or 0.06% at $227.27. For the year, the shares are still down -9.23%.
