That ties the period in 2018-19 and is on track to enter its 36th day, which will mark the longest federal government shutdown in US history. The stalemate now begins to threaten some economic costs to the US and with regards to the Fed, this continues with the lack of key major economic releases as we look to December.
The Congressional Budget Office recently said that the shutdown could cost the US economy $14 billion if it lasts up to eight weeks. And we're pretty much two-thirds of the way there now.
