The signs are definitely looking optimistic but what exactly does any deal here accomplish? It seems like all it will serve to do is to maintain the ongoing trade truce between both sides that have persisted since May. And perhaps there will be some other side arrangements for both sides to step up some commitments but we've been down this road one too many a time. This seems like a rehash of the Phase One trade deal back in 2018-19 and we all know how that went up in smoke almost immediately after.
