 
 On the trip:
- The U.S. and Japan reached a framework agreement on rare earths and critical minerals, focusing on cooperative mining, processing, and securing supply chains for essential materials used in technology and defense. 
- Both nations agreed to strengthen collaboration on next-generation nuclear power and small modular reactor technology, supporting joint development, exports, and energy security efforts. 
- On defense and security, the two countries pledged to enhance deterrence and regional stability, expanding coordination across the Indo-Pacific and reaffirming their mutual defense partnership. 
- The leaders also advanced economic-security initiatives covering artificial intelligence, shipbuilding, and supply-chain resilience, strengthening industrial and technological ties. 
The USDJPY remains higher after the BOJ kept rates unchanged and did not signal a rate hike any time soon. That pushed the USDJPY to the highest level since February 13, and above the 61.8% retracement of the trading range since the 2024 high at 153.397. The next target comes near 154.736.
