A senior Chinese trade negotiator, Li Chenggang, will travel to Washington this week for the first round of trade talks aimed at setting up a regular dialogue during the tariff truce.

Li, a close aide to Beijing’s lead negotiator He Lifeng, is due to meet U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Treasury officials, and representatives from the American business community. The meetings follow an agreement between Washington and Beijing to extend their pause on new tariffs until early November, part of a wider effort to roll back earlier tariff hikes and ease restrictions. Key areas include Chinese rare earth exports and U.S. technology products.
