Late last week, Putin said that the only point of a ceasefire would be for Ukraine to re-arm. That likely set the stage for negotiations collapsing. There were also reports that Trump and Zelensky had a tense meeting in the White House.
A senior White House official told Reuters "there are no plans for President Trump to meet with President Putin in the immediate future" after Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a "productive call" but opted against an in-person meeting.
The prospect for peace was definitely an upside rise for the euro this week but that's the end of that. It will end one day but there's no telling when.
Reports a short time ago also said Ukraine confirmed a “massive” missile strike - including with British-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles - against a chemical plant in Russia’s Bryansk region; likely an explosives factory.
