New Zealand December Consumer Confidence rises to 93.1 from 91.9 in November

  • Inflation expectations dropped to 3.9%, an encouraging sign for the economy

ANZ New Zealand survey of consumer sentiment improves.

The move higher for consumer confidence, although still below 100 and note pessimistic is not the only item of encouragement in the report.

As part of the survey is a question about inflation expectations. These dropped from 4.6% to 3.9%, in the month. AZN cite cheaper fuel prices.

This is the first sub-4% read since October 2020.
