New Zealand building permits rose 5.8% in August from the previous month on a seasonally adjusted basis, following a 5.3% gain in July, official data showed Wednesday.
Excluding apartments, flats and retirement units, approvals for standalone houses also climbed 5.8%.
Overall consents were 6.9% higher than in August last year, according to Statistics New Zealand.
