Netherlands lockdown over Christmas amid concerns over Omicron - to 14 January.

  • Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced the strict measures on Saturday local time.

Restrictions include:

  • Non-essential shops, bars, gyms, hairdressers and other public venues are closed until at least 14 January
  • Two guests per household will be allowed (four between 24 and 26 December, and on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day)

Around 73% of the legible population in the country have been double-vaccinated.
