Japan's tourism sector continues to flourish going into the summer

  • The country welcomed more than 3 million visitors in May, making it a third straight month above that threshold
Japan

The number of foreign visitors for business and leisure was seen at 3.04 million last month. That is little changed from April and just down slightly from the all-time record in March. Compared to May 2019 i.e. the same month before the pandemic, arrivals into Japan were 9.6% higher this year. If anything, the weaker yen is definitely a contributive factor here; not to mention "revenge travelling".
