  • Russia announced this payment method overnight

Japan finance minister Suzuki:

  • currently looking into situation with relevant ministries regarding Russia's statement on paying for oil in rubles
  • will respond to situation while evaluating wider impact our sanctions against Russia have on Japan's economy and market
  • says he has no idea on Russia's intention, how they would carry out, when asked about ruble payment for energy sales to unfriendly countries
