Japan says North Korea projectile may be new type of inter-ballistic missile

The missile is said to have landed at 3.54 pm local time in Japan. The theory of a new type of missile is interesting as it is why perhaps Japan struggled to identify it earlier when it was launched here. For now, it doesn't point to much else besides continued escalation by North Korea in recent weeks but it is a spot worth noting just in case.
