  • Intervention remarks being offered up in the hope of support for JPY

Japan's Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Kazuhiko Aoki has not shifted USD/JPY much at all with his comments:

  • No comment on FX levels
  • Desirable for currencies to move stably reflecting economic fundamentals
  • Closely watching FX moves with a sense of urgency
  • Govt watching forex moves closely including for speculative moves
While the year has officially started Japanese markets say ... 'Nah'.
