Japan Chief Cabinet Secretary says will quickly consider expanding coronavirus measures

As with pretty much everywhere else (except where the peak has occurred, South Africa for example) cases in Japan are continuing to surge.

Tighter restrictions have already been introduced:

• Okinawa, Hiroshima and Yamaguchi prefectures entered a quasi-state of emergency on Sunday

And more are on the way:
