While Trump didn't tweet his meeting intentions, The White House sent out the news with widespread media reporting. Trump did have something to say though:
Good news for markets if true. Likely outcomes:
- supportive for risk assets
- energy prices may well be pressured, especially oil and natural gas, on expectations of restored Russian supply to Europe and calmer geopolitical tensions, along with a diminution of inflationary pressures
- European equities and the euro (and other European FX) should see support on improved economic sentiment and lower energy costs
That'd be the narrative anyway, much will depend on the terms of the peace deal, potential sanctions relief, and whether lasting stability appears credible.
