As National Economic Council Director Hassett he is Trump's head adviser on the economy:
- says USTR has 14 meetings scheduled with foreign trade ministers
- received 18 written offers from foreign trade ministers
- China open to talks
Don't get too optimistic on this sort of guff. On Wednesday US Treasury Secretary Bessent admitted that a full China-US trade deal could take 2-3 years.
Remember the talks that went on and on and on during the first Trump admin.
