France's Macron: I do not want to hand the keys of power to the far-right in 2027

  • Macron justifying why he called for a snap election

He also reaffirms that he will not resign if his faction does not come out as the victors in the upcoming snap election. As a reminder, the first round of voting is set for 30 June. Then, the second round of voting will take place on 7 July.

If Le Pen's faction is the winner of the snap election, expect there to be much political gridlock in France over the next few years.
