Canadian Prime Minister Carney says:

  • Will provide up to C$700 million in loan guarantees to softwood lumber industry to cope with US duties,
  • Canada will provide C$500 million to help speed lumber industry's product development and market diversification.

Negotiations with Canada are still ongoing but it seems that Canada is looking to diversify its export business as a way to due without US demand.
