British energy regulator Ofgem lifts gas, electricity price cap by 80% to £3,549

  • Ofgem updates its price cap level and warns that prices could get significantly worse next year

Winter is coming and the energy headlines from Europe isn't getting any better. The price cap increase will take into effect from 1 October this year and that will be up from £1,971 currently as Ofgem says that it is to "reflect the continued rise in global wholesale gas prices". Adding that it could be possible that some suppliers may begin increasing direct debits before that to spread out the costs.
