All runways at Tokyo's Haneda Airport now closed after airplane was caught in flames

  • Japan Airlines plane, JAL 516, was caught in flames with the runway also said to have been set alight by the incident
JP

The plane is reported to be carrying more than 300 passengers and is believed to have collided with a Japanese coast guard aircraft as it was travelling down the runway. It seems like Japan can't really catch a break at the moment after the earthquake in Ishikawa. This certainly is an extremely rare accident to see happen in the aviation industry.

Update: It is being reported that five of the six crew member on the coast guard aircraft have died as a result of the collision.
