What Super Tuesday means for markets

Trump vs Clinton?

Despite the surge from Sanders, Clinton appears to be headed towards the Democratic nomination and today's Super Tuesday primaries will solidify her lead.

Donald Trump is the real question. The Republican establishment hates him but a big portion of Republican voters want someone who is outside the establishment. Betting sites have him at around a 72%-80% chance to take the nomination.

Looking through the odds at betting sites, Trump is a prohibitive favorite in almost every state. The exception is Ted Cruz's home state of Texas. Even there, Trump has an outside shot.

CNBC has a good breakdown of how each candidate is perceived.

If Trump performs as expected, it will be interesting to see what kind of dirty tricks the Republican party rolls out to topple him. Alternatively, they could decide to close ranks and try to build him into their best hope to beat Hillary (who's a big betting favorite against any Republican candidate).
