Mnuchin over the weekend said future trade deals should include provisions to deter manipulation of currencies.
He singled out Japan for a mention by saying he didn't wan to single them out …. crafty! ….
- "Our objective would be that the currency issues ... We'd like to include (them) in future trade agreements. With everybody. I'm not singling out Japan on that"
The US wants to bas manipulation provisions on the currency chapter in the new Nafta deal.
Japan's Economy Minister Toshimitsu Motegi responded to Mnuchin's comments:
said he had so far made no discussions on currencies with US trade rep Lighthizer
