There is a 99% chance of you ask someone 70 or older why they're working and they will tell you it's because they like it, or that they need something to do.
I don't believe that's true. Retirement savings are too low and people are continuing to work because they have to.
Almost 19% of people 65 and older were working at least part time in Q2, according to the latest jobs report. Among those 65-69, it's 32% and among those 70-74, it's 19%, up from 11% in 1994.
Bloomberg takes a closer look at a the trend and says this: "Even more older Americans might be out there working, though, if they were healthier and had better job prospects."
