The major US stock indices limped into the close with modest gains as the market awaits the Trump/Kim summit which will place at 9 AM local time/9 PM ET/0100 GMT.
- S&P closed up 2.97 points or 0.11%
- Nasdaq closed up 14.415 points or 0.19%
- Dow closed up 5.78 points or 0.02%
Given the weekend G7 disappointment, to close with gains is a result.
However, momentum was not that great and there is still a lot of event risk this week with
- the summit,
- central bank policy decisions (US hike, EU QE taper, BOJ keeping rates unchanged) and
- economic data (US and UK CPI, UK Retail sales, Australia employment, US retail sales)
all a potential boat rocker.
For now, one day done, and one day with gains.
